The Unheeded Warnings of Congressman Curt Weldon: A Call for Truth and Accountability

By Brannon Howse

On April 29th, 2025, I had the profound honor of hosting former Congressman Curt Weldon on Brannon Howse Live at WorldviewTube. For over an hour, we delved into a conversation that peeled back layers of hidden truths about national security, intelligence failures, and the shadowy machinations of the deep state. Weldon, a man of integrity and courage, shared revelations that demand the attention of every American patriot. His story is not just a historical recounting—it’s a clarion call for accountability and a return to the principles that make America great.

A Legacy of Foresight and Friendship with Dr. Peter Pry

Congressman Weldon’s insights are deeply intertwined with the legacy of my late friend, Dr. Peter Pry, a brilliant former CIA analyst and national security expert who worked closely with Weldon on Capitol Hill. Pry, who often sat at this very news desk, was a mentor who taught me much about the world’s emerging threats. He frequently spoke of Weldon’s boldness in addressing issues that the establishment—often referred to as the “Uniparty”—preferred to ignore. Together, Weldon and Pry tackled topics like the threat of nuclear suitcase bombs, electromagnetic pulse (EMP) vulnerabilities, and Russian strategic maneuvers, often at great personal risk.

Weldon’s admiration for Pry was palpable during our conversation. He described Pry as his “right-hand person” on the Armed Services Committee, co-authoring books and spearheading initiatives like the EMP Commission. Pry’s expertise as a Soviet Russia specialist gave Weldon the edge to confront emerging threats head-on. Their partnership was a testament to what principled individuals can achieve when they prioritize truth over political expediency.

The Nuclear Suitcase Threat: A Warning Ignored

One of the most chilling segments of our discussion centered on Weldon’s efforts in the 1990s to warn Congress about small atomic demolition munitions—often called “nuclear suitcases.” Alongside Congressman Dan Burton, Weldon, with Pry’s assistance, presented a mock-up of such a device during a congressional hearing. This briefcase-sized weapon, capable of devastating eight city blocks and killing thousands, was a real threat. Weldon revealed that while the U.S. had accounted for its own devices, the Soviets had not, with approximately 80 unaccounted for, according to Russian General Lebed.

Weldon’s concerns were amplified by his interactions with Russian environmentalist Dr. Alexei Yablokov, who warned of the Soviet Union’s lax control over nuclear materials. Despite Weldon’s persistent efforts, he faced resistance from U.S. intelligence agencies reluctant to confront these realities, particularly under the Clinton administration, which prioritized maintaining Boris Yeltsin’s regime over addressing strategic security threats. Weldon’s fear today is that such devices could be smuggled into cities like Kyiv or even the U.S., activated remotely to catastrophic effect without the traceable trail of a missile.

Able Danger and the 9/11 Cover-Up

Perhaps the most explosive revelation from Weldon was his account of Able Danger, a top-secret Army intelligence program established in the 1990s to track Al-Qaeda. Weldon, who funded the program, disclosed that Able Danger had identified Mohammed Atta and other 9/11 terrorists as early as January 2000, a full year before the attacks. The program attempted to transfer this critical intelligence to the FBI on three separate occasions, only to be blocked by Defense Department lawyers.

Weldon’s frustration was palpable as he recounted how the 9/11 Commission, which he labels a “total cover-up,” ignored Able Danger’s findings. He cited a November 9, 2005, press conference where he called for a criminal investigation into the program’s suppression, accusing the commission of disinformation. Weldon shared a powerful anecdote from the book Horse Soldiers, where General Keith Lambert confirmed Able Danger’s identification of Atta, directly contradicting the commission’s narrative. Weldon’s assertion that the commission protected both the Clinton and Bush administrations underscores a troubling pattern of obfuscation.

The Deep State’s Retaliation

Weldon’s relentless pursuit of truth made him a target. He believes the Bush administration, in concert with deep state actors, orchestrated efforts to prevent him from chairing the Armed Services Committee in 2006, where he would have wielded subpoena power to expose these issues. He recounted a conversation with John Sununu, former chief of staff to George H.W. Bush, who told him his mistake was refusing to align with one political “rail” and instead challenging both parties’ corruption. Weldon’s response was unwavering: “I pledged allegiance to the Constitution, not the Republican Party.”

More disturbingly, Weldon expressed concerns about the deaths of Pry and another colleague, John Quirk, suggesting they may have been targeted with slow-acting cancers due to their exposés. While acknowledging the risk to his own life, Weldon remains undeterred, driven by his identity as a lifelong firefighter who doesn’t back down. He warned, “If they kill me, everyone will know why,” and called for firefighters nationwide to rally for truth.

A Firefighter’s Heart for America

Weldon’s passion for America’s firefighters was a recurring theme. As a career firefighter and friend of FDNY hero Ray Downey, who perished on 9/11, Weldon shared the heartbreaking story of Battalion Chief Orio Palmer. Palmer climbed to the 78th floor of the World Trade Center, reported manageable fires, and was killed when the building collapsed moments later—a sequence Weldon insists defies normal fire dynamics. He urged viewers to watch Bravo 7, a firefighter-produced film that questions the official 9/11 narrative, particularly regarding Building 7.

Weldon’s call to action is clear: America’s firefighters, who risk their lives daily without fanfare, embody the nation’s backbone. As we approach the 250th anniversary of America in 2026, he wants their legacy—exemplified by heroes like Downey and Palmer—to inspire a renewal of truth and accountability.

A Plea for Support and Prayer

Congressman Weldon’s courage comes at a cost. He avoids mainstream social media, using only LinkedIn and a sparingly active Truth Social account (@CurtWeldon). He invited viewers to contact him at kurt@kurtweldon.com and to watch Bravo 7 to understand the stakes. I echo his call and ask our audience to pray for his safety and that of his family. The deep state sees him as a threat, but we see him as a patriot.

The Path Forward

Curt Weldon’s story is a sobering reminder that America’s greatest threats often lie within. From unaccounted nuclear devices to suppressed intelligence that could have prevented 9/11, his warnings have been consistently ignored by those prioritizing power and profit over national security. Yet, his resolve—and ours—remains unbroken. As we pray for Weldon and support platforms like WorldviewTube, let’s recommit to reclaiming the America he taught his students to believe in: a nation of truth, courage, and unwavering patriotism.
