Taiwan and Vietnam became the first countries to fold following President Trump’s announcement last Wednesday of reciprocal tariffs.

Bloomberg reports that Vietnam has offered to remove all tariffs on US imports after Donald Trump announced a 46% levy on the Southeast Asian nation, according to an April 5 letter from Vietnam’s communist party.

The offer was made by party chief To Lam to the US president in a letter that was seen by Bloomberg. In the letter, Lam requested that the US not apply any additional tariffs or fees on Vietnamese goods and asked to postpone the implementation of the tariff announced by Trump last week by at least 45 days after April 9.

The letter confirms comments made by Trump on Friday on his Truth Social network, following a call between the two leaders. Vietnam, which has become a key manufacturing and export alternative to China, was slapped with one of the highest tariff rates last Wednesday.  

Expect the stocks of all the public companies profiled as the biggest casualties from the Vietnam tariffs to soar, as the market realizes that for all the posturing, Trump's tariffs were just that: a negotiating chip to minimize trade barriers against the US, which as Vietnam so aptly demonstrated, are now well on their way out.

Taiwan offered to drop all of its tariffs against imported U.S. goods.

More than 50 countries reportedly have contacted the Trump White House following his announced tariffs last Wednesday.

Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick appeared on CBS Face the Nation Sunday and said the administration is not backing down on its tariffs, adding that “there is no postponing, they are definitely going to be taking place.”

Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent has accused Ukrainian President Zelensky of repeatedly deceiving the Trump administration about the proposed rare-earth minerals agreement with the United States.

In an interview with Tucker Carlson, Bessent alleged that Zelensky “lied to our faces three times” about signing the deal, which would provide U.S. companies with access to Ukraine’s vital strategic minerals.”

Bessent explained that he flew to Kyiv to sign the agreement with Zelensky, but the Ukrainian leader refused. Instead, Zelensky agreed to sign the deal during a meeting with Vice President JD Vance and Secretary of State Marco Rubio in Munich, Germany, which never occurred. 

Bessent said: “He didn’t sign it there. There was a lot of back and forth. The following week, they’re beginning to come to the White House. Then he got to the Oval Office and blew up, which should have been the easiest thing to do in the world. There’s a famous photo in the East Wing ballroom of everything laid out on the table to be signed, and it never got signed.”

Yet another study has come out warning about the harmful effects of fluoridated water on children.

Children exposed to fluoridated water before the age of 10 have a higher risk of a number of serious neurodevelopmental issues, a new study suggests.

The paper, published in BMC Pediatrics, shows that autism-spectrum disorder, attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder, intellectual disability and other delays in development were all visible at higher rates among children exposed to fluoridated water before their 10th birthday.

The researchers behind the study, David and Mark Geier, are warning that the risks of water fluoridation must be carefully reassessed.

They analyzed data from the Independent Healthcare Research Database, taken from de-identified healthcare records from the Florida Medicaid System during the period 1990-2012.

Since some counties in Florida have municipal fluoridation and others don’t, they were able to compare the health of children exposed to water fluoridation for their whole lives, over 25,000 children, with the health of around 2,500 children who weren’t exposed,

The researchers examined fluoride exposure and health outcomes during the first year and the first 10 years of life.

The results showed that in the first year of life, there was a statistically significant decrease in the risk of tooth decay with exposure to fluoridated water, as well as a statistically significant increase in the risk of neurodevelopmental disorders.

The 10-year results were much more striking. After 10 years of fluoride exposure, the risk of tooth decay was nearly four times lower in exposed children, but the children had a significantly higher risk of developmental disorders, nearly seven times greater for autism and two times greater for intellectual disability, most notably.

At the beginning of November, Robert F. Kennedy Jr. made clear that removing fluoride from public water systems will be one of the Trump administration’s top health priorities.

“On January 20, the Trump White House will advise all U.S​. water systems to remove fluoride from public water.”

Kennedy said Fluoride is an industrial waste associated with arthritis, bone fractures, bone cancer, IQ loss, neurodevelopmental disorders, and thyroid disease.

The New York Post reports four young girls were slashed with a meat cleaver in Brooklyn on Sunday morning when a relative went on a deranged and bloody rampage before he was shot by police.

Police rushed to a home on 84th Street around 10:15 a.m. after one of the victims, a wounded 11-year-old girl, locked herself in a room and called 911, telling the dispatcher that her uncle had stabbed her and her siblings.

NYPD Commissioner Jessica Tisch told reporters at a briefing at the scene:

“At that point [the cops] heard screams coming from behind the door to their left and immediately began forcing their way into the apartment, kicking down the door. Once they entered, they encountered a man standing near the entrance holding a large meat cleaver covered with blood, and they could see blood on the floor of the home. The officers ordered the man to drop the weapon several times. He refused and advanced towards them.”

She said two officers fired their weapons, firing seven total rounds between them, striking the subject and putting down the threat.

Tisch said the four girls, ages 16, 13, 11, and 8, all suffered “serious slash and stab wounds” and were rushed to the hospital. They are all expected to survive.

Tisch said: “This could have ended very differently.”

The suspect, identified as Lun Chang Chen, 49, was also rushed to the hospital and is in critical condition, police said. He is believed to have lived in the home where the horror unfolded.

The motive for the brutal assault is under investigation.

The New York State Education Department says it is keeping diversity, equity and inclusion programs in schools despite the Trump administration threatening to pull federal funding.

In a statement, state education department director of communications JP O'Hare said:

"The New York State Education Department has consistently certified, on multiple occasions, that it does and will comply with Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964. Given the fact that USDOE is already in possession of the guarantees by NYSED, no further certification will be forthcoming. The Board of Regents and State Education Department continue to work with New York's schools to increase equity, access, and opportunities in education for all New York State students."

Continued use of DEI practices could lead to "serious consequences," officials say.

The Trump administration has argued DEI programs violate Title VI of the Civil Rights Act. Thursday, the Department of Education sent letters to state commissioners, giving them until April 13 to sign and return a certification attesting their compliance with federal civil rights law.

The certification states in part, "The use of certain DEI practices can violate federal law. The continued use of illegal DEI practices may subject the individual or entity using such practices to serious consequences."

Those consequences could include losing federal funding, the letter says.

In January, President Trump signed executive orders ending DEI programs within the federal government and cutting funding for so-called DEI initiatives.

A combat unit of NATO-trained Ukrainian soldiers was photographed using a Flyer 72-LD tactical vehicle. The Department of Defense did not report that it had transferred to Ukraine these vehicles, which had been previously operated primarily by American special forces. 

The Flyers’ presence in Ukraine became public when blogger Praise the Steph posted a photo of the vehicle with soldiers from Kiev’s 6th Separate Ranger Regiment.

The Flyer is designed to be a light-weight tactical vehicle that can operate in rugged terrain.

It can be carried to the front by a number of helicopters and can carry a 5,000-pound load. The Pentagon has not previously disclosed the transfer of the Flyer to Ukraine. Only a limited number of NATO countries deploy the Flyer. 

While the New York Times described the Department of Defense’s transfer of weapons to Ukraine as occurring "with remarkable transparency," this is not the first time that Ukrainian soldiers have received US military equipment before the American public became aware of the shipment. 

The 6th Separate Ranger Regiment is one of four Ukrainian military units trained by NATO troops that make up Kiev’s special operations force.

According to the Kyiv Post, they are designed to conduct "drone, reconnaissance, sabotage, and artillery targeting operations behind enemy lines."

US and Ukrainian military leaders have presented the conflict as an opportunity to test Western weapons and tactics against the Russian military.

Turkey was left fuming after at least three air bases in Syria where it hoped to deploy its forces were decimated by Israeli air strikes this past week.

The Israelis struck the T4 and Palmyra air bases in Syria’s Homs province and the main airport in Hama province. Israeli attacks came despite Turkey’s efforts to reassure Washington that a deeper military presence in Syria was not intended to threaten Israel.

Turkish military teams in recent weeks scoped out all three sites, four officials speaking on condition of anonymity told Reuters.

Strikes at T4 “destroyed the runway, tower, hangars and the planes that were grounded. It was a tough message that Israel won’t accept the expanded Turkish presence,” said one of the intelligence officials who spoke to the news agency.

Turkey is positioning itself to play a major role in the new Syria, filling a vacuum left by Iran, in an expansion of Turkish sway that has put Israel on edge.

A biological male athlete nabbed first place during a girls’ high school track meet on Wednesday in Portland, Oregon.

The boy, who goes by Lia Rose, previously competed under the name Zachary, Fox News reported Friday.

The outlet said he won while competing in the high jump at the Portland Interscholastic League Varsity Relays with a height of 4 feet, 8 inches, beating the second-place finisher by 2 inches.

The Fox article also noted that this person finished last when he went up against other boys a few years ago.

The report stated:

“According to athletic.net, while competing against JV boys May 3, 2023, Zachary Rose finished 11th out of 11 competitors with a jump of 4 feet, 6 inches.”

Time now for our nightly Worldview Report commentary.

After another week of protests against Tesla, I’d like to report one of the most egregious cases of leftist violence in this current cycle. 

Davis Nafshun, a Portland man, has been charged with using a laser to assault Tesla employees during a March 29 protest at a Tesla dealership near the South Waterfront in Portland.

Nafshun, 27, is facing two felony counts of unlawful use of a weapon after allegedly shining a laser into the eyes of Tesla employees, causing them to report vision problems.

He was released on his own recognizance from jail the same day of his arrest.

A probable-cause affidavit says police responded to a call at the South Waterfront Portland Tesla dealership. An employee told an officer that at least one person was pointing a green laser into the dealership and at people inside. An officer saw video of a person, later identified as Nafshun, doing the same during a demonstration taking place outside the building.

Nafshun works at the taxpayer-funded homeless support nonprofit in Portland while moonlighting as a terrorist.

Laser beams pointed directly into the eye have the potential to cause retinal damage and adversely impact the vision.

Police found him riding his bike away from the area and took him into custody, according to the arrest affidavit. Multiple protesters asked the officers what was going on and were concerned about police intervention.

Apparently, these radicals have confused free speech with law breaking activity.

I’m glad many of them are getting caught. They need to be subjected to the full letter of the law. Not just given a slap on the wrist. Or they will be right back on the streets committing mischief and mayhem.
