China’s finance ministry has announced an additional 84 percent tariff on all goods imported from the United States, due to come into force on Thursday.

The 84 percent tariff replaces the previously announced 34 percent tariff.

On April 2, Trump announced a minimum 10 percent tariff on all trading partners, as well as higher levies on about 60 nations identified by the administration as the worst offenders in trade imbalances with the United States, including an additional 34 percent tariff on China.

When China responded with tit-for-tat 34 percent retaliatory levies on U.S. goods, Trump then imposed an extra 50 percent on the Chinese regime, amounting to 104 percent total tariffs on Chinese imports, which came into effect from 12:01 a.m. today.

Kevin O’Leary, the business analyst of Shark Tank fame, made the case for Trump to charge 400 percent tariffs on China.

President Donald Trump announced on his Truth Social Wednesday a 90-day pause on tariffs for roughly 75 countries that did not issue retaliatory tariffs, and said that the U.S. raised the tariff charged to China to 125%.

This comes after Trump implemented tariffs on several other nations on April 2, sending shockwaves across international markets. Markets immediately surged Wednesday following the president’s announcement.

Trump wrote:

“Based on the lack of respect China has shown to the World’s Markets, I am hereby raising the tariff charge to China by the United States of America by 125%, effective immediately. Conversely, and based on the fact that more than 75 Countries have called Representatives of the United States, including the Departments of Commerce, Treasury, and the USTR, to negotiate a solution to the subjects being discussed relative to Trade, Trade Barriers, Tariffs, Currency Manipulation, and Non-Monetary Tariffs, and that these Countries have not, at my strong suggestion, retaliated in any way, shape, or form against the United States, have authorized a 90-day PAUSE, and a substantially lowered Reciprocal Tariff during this period, of 10%, also effective immediately.”

NBC News reports the Trump administration is considering launching drone strikes on drug cartels in Mexico as part of an ambitious effort to combat criminal gangs trafficking narcotics across the southern border, according to six current and former U.S. military, law enforcement and intelligence officials with knowledge of the matter.

Discussions are in their early stages among White House, Defense Department and intelligence officials.

Still, the administration has made no final decision and reached no definitive agreement about countering the cartels. And unilateral covert action, without Mexico’s consent, has not been ruled out and could be an option of last resort, the sources said. It is unclear whether American officials have floated the possibility of drone strikes to the Mexican government but so far the Mexican leadership is not on board with the plan.

If Mexico and the United States proceeded together with drone strikes or other action, it would not be the first time they have launched a joint effort to take on the cartels, nor would it be the first time that American military and intelligence worked in concert with Mexico’s law enforcement and army.

But what the Trump administration is contemplating could be unprecedented both in the number of U.S. personnel involved and in the use of American unmanned aircraft to bomb cartel personnel and assets.

A federal judge on Tuesday ordered the Trump administration to restore The Associated Press’s access to key White House spaces after it exiled AP reporters over the organization’s refusal to use the term Gulf of America in its stylebook.

U.S. District Judge Trevor McFadden, an appointee of President Trump, directed the White House to resume allowing the AP into the Oval Office, Air Force One and other limited spaces when they’re made available to other press pool members.

He also granted the AP’s request for access to events open to all credentialed White House reporters, though he listed several caveats, writing:

“This injunction does not limit the various permissible reasons the Government may have for excluding journalists from limited-access events. It does not mandate that all eligible journalists, or indeed any journalists at all, be given access to the President or nonpublic government spaces. It does not prohibit government officials from freely choosing which journalists to sit down with for interviews or which ones’ questions they answer. And it certainly does not prevent senior officials from publicly expressing their own views.”

He further noted that:

“No, the Court simply holds that under the First Amendment, if the Government opens its doors to some journalists, be it to the Oval Office, the East Room, or elsewhere, it cannot then shut those doors to other journalists because of their viewpoints. The Constitution requires no less.”

After his initial ruling, the judge paused the order from going into effect until April 13, to give the Trump administration time to appeal.

A California man who was arrested outside conservative Catholic Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh’s suburban home in June 2022 has admitted in court that he planned to assassinate Kavanaugh. 

Nicholas Roske, 29, of Simi Valley, California, pleaded guilty in federal court in Greenbelt, Maryland, on Tuesday to the charge of attempted murder. Sentencing guidelines call for a minimum of 30 years to life in prison. 

A June 9 trial date has been set. 

Roske was infuriated after a draft opinion in Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization by the U.S. Supreme Court revealing the justices’ intention to overturn Roe v. Wade was leaked to Politico in early May 2022, quickly grabbing headlines across the country.    

A few weeks later, Roske told another individual via encrypted online messaging that “The thought of Roe v Wade and gay marriage both being repealed has me furious.” 

The unhinged young man also explained that, as a result of reading the leaked Dobbs decision draft, he intended to kill one or more of the associate justices.

After Roske filed his guilty plea on Tuesday, Carrie Severino noted on X, “The leaker of the draft Dobbs opinion put the lives of the justices and their families in grave danger.”

Despite an investigation, the leaker has never been identified. 

According to a court filing, in the weeks before flying to Washington, D.C., Roske searched the internet for the home addresses of Supreme Court justices and for “information on firearms, techniques for breaking and entering a residence, ways to avoid detection, stabbing a person, especially in the neck, strangulation, killing a person in a quiet manner, and how to travel by air with weapons. Roske also purchased multiple items and tools to use in his planned attack.”

In a recent statement indicative of the ongoing global arms race, British authorities reported on a military test of hypersonic missiles.

In an official announcement, the British Ministry of Defense stated that, in collaboration with American scientists, the country successfully tested a new propulsion model for hypersonic missiles. Few specific technical details were given by the officials, but it is known that the model is based on prototype cruise missile engines.

The ministry reported that a whole new technological line of missile launchers is expected to be announced in the UK by 2030. It was also reported that the mentioned military tests took place on American soil and with the support of U.S. public and private agencies. Scientists from the U.S. Air Force, NASA and private business groups supported the initiative, contributing significantly to the success of the program.

 The statement reads:

“The six-week trial, led by the Defense Science and Technology Laboratory (Dstl) and the U.S. Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL), involved 233 static test runs of a high-speed air-breathing engine concept designed to power a future UK hypersonic cruise missile.”

Testing took place at the NASA Langley Research Centre in Virginia, supported by industry partners including British SME Gas Dynamics Ltd. The propulsion system forms a core component of the UK’s ambition to deliver a hypersonic weapon demonstrator by 2030 under its Team Hypersonic program. 

According to the statement, “The tests successfully demonstrated performance across a full spectrum of speeds, from supersonic to hypersonic flight regimes.”

Idaho this summer will become the first state in the country to enforce a ban on vaccine mandates, reflecting a growing skepticism of immunizations among Americans.

GOP Governor Brad Little recently signed a bill prohibiting schools, businesses, and government entities from denying services or admission to people who have not received a “medical intervention,” described as vaccines, a procedure or medication, according to a report by Axios on Wednesday.

He vetoed a similar bill in March, saying the measure would have infringed on parental freedom and hindered the ability of schools to send home students suffering from contagious illnesses.

But state lawmakers revised the bill to clarify the new policy would be subject to existing requirements in school districts, and now, the bill will go into effect on July 1st.

The move comes while more than a dozen states have introduced bills banning medical intervention mandates or restricting the use of some vaccines, including mRNA shots.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Idaho already has had the highest rate of kindergarten-aged children with vaccine exemptions during the 2023-24 school year.

Idaho is one of three states debating whether to ban mRNA vaccines. No states have yet passed that policy.

Country music star John Rich told President Donald Trump that the reason his supporters booed him at his rallies during his 2024 bid for the White House was because of his constant bragging about Operation Warp Speed, Trump’s controversial COVID-19 program that killed or injured millions of Americans.

Rich explained to the hosts of the Try That In a Small Town Podcast that he was at a dinner with Trump and other high-ranking Republican politicians several years ago. Senator Lindsey Graham of South Carolina, Senator Marsha Blackburn of Tennessee, as well as then-Georgia Senate candidate Herschel Walker were also present, sitting around a table.

Trump turned to Rich and asked for his advice on how to deal with his tough crowds.

“[Trump] goes, ‘why are people booing me at my rallies when I bring up the vaccine?’” Rich said.

Before sharing his answer, Rich explained to the podcast hosts that he knew Trump was extremely proud of Operation Warp Speed so he had to collect himself before speaking directly to him.

Wow! God bless John Rich. One of the few, maybe the only one, who had the guts to tell the truth about Warp Speed to the President of the United States of America, the man who triggered it all.

And Trump seems to have listened. You don’t hear him bragging about Warp Speed like he used to constantly do.

And I love how he put the corrupt globalist Senator Lindsey Graham in his place. Graham is a scourge on this country, an embarrassment and a pathetic excuse for a leader.
