Texas Betrayed: Governor Greg Abbott’s Sanctuary State Policies and the Colony Ridge Scandal

By Brannon Howse

On May 14, 2025, I had the privilege of sitting down with Michael Yon, a seasoned war correspondent and border investigator, for an explosive interview on WorldviewTube and our 74 Christian radio stations. What Michael revealed about the state of Texas under Governor Greg Abbott’s leadership should send shockwaves through every patriotic American’s heart. Texas, long heralded as a bastion of conservative values, is being betrayed from within, and the evidence is undeniable.

Michael, fresh off a year-long investigation across Panama, South America, and the U.S. southern border, dropped a bombshell about Colony Ridge, a sprawling development north of Houston. This isn’t just a housing project; it’s a 200,000-person colony built on predatory land deals targeting illegal immigrants. Developer Trey Harris, a major donor to Governor Abbott, has been clearing wetlands and selling plots at exorbitant interest rates. When buyers inevitably default, they’re evicted, and the land is resold—sometimes multiple times. This isn’t capitalism; it’s exploitation, enabled by a governor who’s turned a blind eye for years.

Michael’s firsthand account is chilling. He flew over Colony Ridge twice on May 13, 2025—first by helicopter, then by airplane—to document its scale. Despite claims from some Texas officials dismissing reports of illegal immigrant settlements as “fake news,” Michael’s aerial footage and years of on-the-ground reporting confirm the truth. Colony Ridge is a hub for illegal immigration, complete with sanitation issues stemming from its wetland location. And yet, construction has only slowed—not stopped—since President Trump took office.

But the scandal doesn’t end with Colony Ridge. Michael exposed Texas as a de facto sanctuary state, a reality that flies in the face of its tough-on-immigration reputation. Unlike Florida, where Governor Ron DeSantis has embraced 287G—a federal program allowing law enforcement to check immigration status during routine stops—Texas, under Abbott’s leadership, actively opposes it. Michael pointed to recent Texas House testimony where Lieutenant Colonel Jason Taylor, Deputy Director of Law Enforcement Operations for the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS), explicitly stated that DPS will not participate in mass deportations unless directly ordered. And who’s at the helm? Governor Abbott, who has no intention of issuing such an order.

This refusal to cooperate with federal immigration enforcement isn’t just negligence—it’s sabotage. Michael, who has spent months traversing the entire U.S.-Mexico border, recounted how Abbott’s border security stunts, like unfurling Constantino wire for photo ops, were mere theater. Just miles away from these staged events, illegal crossings continued unabated. “It was that open,” Michael said, calling Abbott a “traitor” and a “coward” who’s “actively destroying the great state of Texas.”

The connections run deeper. Michael highlighted Abbott’s ties to the World Economic Forum (WEF), an organization he accuses of promoting policies that undermine national sovereignty. Abbott’s name appears on the WEF’s website, and his administration’s use of terms like “stakeholders”—a WEF buzzword—raises red flags. Michael’s assertion that Abbott’s busing of migrants to New York wasn’t about exposing sanctuary city hypocrisy but about “clearing the banks of the Rio Grande so more could come in” is a damning indictment of the governor’s motives.

Adding to the alarm, I shared with Michael our upcoming investigation, set to air later that evening, into 425 mosques across America. Conducted by former federal agent Dave Gaubatz, this undercover operation uncovered disturbing ideologies, including support for child bride marriages, being promoted in Texas mosques like Yasser Qadhi’s Epic Center. This revelation underscores a broader concern: Texas’ government, from the top down, appears compromised. Whether it’s money, ideology, coercion, or ego—what Michael calls the “four main cheeses” of recruitment—the result is a state leadership failing its people.

Michael’s reporting also connected the dots to mysterious DHS and U.N.-funded tent complexes across Texas, some hidden from local residents. These massive facilities, documented by Michael and Muckraker’s Anthony Rubin, were initially suspected to be for refugees or even pandemic-related detentions. Their true purpose remains unclear, but Abbott’s complicity in allowing them suggests a deeper agenda.

As we wrapped up, Michael warned that Texas is just one front in a global invasion. From Ireland to Sweden to Luxembourg, he’s tracked similar patterns of mass migration orchestrated by globalist forces. Tennessee, he and I agree, may be the next target. If Texas falls, the ripple effects will be catastrophic.

This is a call to action for MAGA and all Americans who cherish our sovereignty. President Trump’s deportation goals are being undermined by state-level saboteurs like Abbott. We must demand accountability, starting with the Texas DPS and its leadership. As Michael put it, “The Texas Department of Public Safety should be standing up… not just constantly taking orders.” It’s time for Texans to stand up, too.
